Gwathmey Baptist Church and Providence Christian Academy upholds the following doctrines of our Christian faith:
● There is one Triune God who is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equals and one God.
● God the Father reigns with providential care over His universe. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving, and all-wise.
● Jesus Christ is the only Son of God. He is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death and ascended into heaven where he sits at the right hand of God.
● The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in all Christians from the moment of salvation, providing them with power for living and guidance in doing what is right.
● The Bible is God’s written revelation of Himself to mankind. We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the fully verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God-breathed, and therefore are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man.
● Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as a crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Man’s decision to sin caused a division between Creator and creation leaving man in need of a Savior.
● We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity
be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10.)
● We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Providence Christian Academy as a ministry of a biblically faithful church, and to provide a biblical role model to the Providence Christian Academy students and families, it is imperative that all parents, persons employed by PCA in any capacity, and those who serve on the school board, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender/Biological Sex, and Sexuality. (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thessalonians 5:22.)
● Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
● Encourage one another and build each other up. This requires us to treat others with kindness and respect at all times. It also enables us to be a positive influence in the lives of those with whom we associate. Communicate with others in a spirit of love in all forms. This requires us to refrain from such things as gossip, anger, unkind words, and cruel jokes at the expense of others.
● For purposes of Providence Christian Academy’s faith, doctrine, practice, discipline, and policy, the Board of Directors is the organization’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
Litchfield Christian School has been such a beautiful blessing to our family. LCS is a Christ-centered school that challenges students academically, nurtures their creativity, promotes a positive learning environment, and contributes to their spiritual growth. LCS is very supportive, and they encourage their students and their families. Our daughter came into LCS completely broken and empty. Public school had taken a drastic toll on her mental health. She had pleaded with us for over a year to homeschool her. We were at a loss. Our daughter is a very social person, and we knew she needed more. We decided to check out LCS as an alternative. From the very moment we stepped inside LCS, we could see and feel the genuine love. EVERYONE felt as if they belonged. Before our day of observing was over, she had asked if she could please come to LCS. She was smiling and said this place is my kind of place. It's definitely been just that!
Today she is thriving, and she is truly enjoying herself. She loves to go to school, and she loves all of the teachers. She has made good friends and is blossoming in all areas of life. She's even started singing on stage during chapel. This has been the best decision we could have ever made as parents for our daughter. We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity in our hometown, and we truly appreciate that LCS offers grades K-12. How blessed we are to be a part of Litchfield Christian School. We look forward to many more amazing years here.
